Bum genius diapers started with a Cotton Babies one-size microfiber insert, when founder Jenn Labit designed a diaper around it. The company began very small, with $100 worth of product in a tiny green milk crate stored in a shelf in their kitchen. It grew from there to a bookshelf, then a closet, then a bedroom, then a basement, and, finally in 2005, the business expanded into a small commercial space. Now Cotton Babies employs many people in the St. Louis area shipping, retail, office, or in their homes sewing products. bumGenius production has changes as the company has grown..
They started in a woman-owned facility in Denver, Colorado, in 2005. When they needed a second factory, they worked with a factory in Alexandria, Egypt, that is exclusively dedicated to the production of Bum Genius diapers for international distributors in Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Australia. They have full time team of people who work for the quality control company and provide around the clock supervision to ensure their standards are met at all times. Oversight includes company culture, treatment of employees, team building as well as inspecting every single diaper produced. The factory is beautiful and clean. The majority of bum genius diapers sold in the U.S. are made in Colorado. Made in USA and Made in Egypt.
